As your best friend climbs the ladder of maturity please keep in mind all of his unique needs as a "senior bird". Make sure that he is on a proper senior diet & sees a Certified Avian Vet at least once a year. You should also try to keep in mind the noise level throughout the home, if the kids are running in & out of the house, dogs are barking, TV is on 24/7 you might need to rethink the location of your older birds cage. They tend to like a more private area, where they can have some sense of "serenity" & "peace", maybe reflecting on their younger days. Try to make it a sunny part of the house(but, not too much direct sunlight)where your bird can enjoy the sunshine! Try not to let strangers handle him too often because they tend to shy away from people that they haven't met or been around to often and it can be upsetting to an older bird. All in all, just keep in mind that parrots are like people too. They enjoy a little "peace & quiet" or maybe an afternoon nap or two as they are getting up in years.

I have an older african grey parrot, I really don't know how old he is. He's getting up there though, I bought him from a friend of mine & he said that he was 20. He gets around pretty good. He is a good friend, always there when I come through the door to greet me.
