A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED.
We prefer that you drop off your bird for LAB TESTING & return in one hour, to provide sufficient time for the testing to be performed. You may however choose to drop off your bird at the scheduled appointment time & pick it up later that day. Just let someone at the front desk know.
Early detection for infectious diseases of your bird can help prevent devastating illnesses & or death. Get your bird tested today! You owe it to your feathered friend! We can give you a printout of the testing performed & you can provide these results to your vet's office for your bird's medical/health records.

SET UP YOUR APPT now by phone to bring your HEALTHY BIRD to us for both laboratory & or DNA testing. We cannot stress "healthy" enough, please do not bring your suspected ill bird to our facility for testing. This must be done in a vets office only.
Here's how OASIS EXOTIC BIRDS LAB TESTING works:
Schedule an appt for the testing, fill out a short form. On the day of the testing arrive on time, your bird in a carrier- bring along a clean towel. You will be told approx how long the procedure will take. Most clients choose to leave their bird & return at a designated time to pick up. You must first sign in your bird for testing & bring your bird in a small bird carrier. Please do not bring a cage.
We will comfort your bird with the towel that you have provided & we will then obtain a sample from your bird, either by blood, feather or swab (method is determined by the indiviual test ordered)- not a preferrence or a choice.
We then submit your birds sample to a state of the art Bio-Lab, that OASIS EXOTIC BIRDS works closely with that will carry out the clinical aspect of the procedure & perform the laboratory testing that you have ordered. You can keep the results on file for your records or you can share your results with your bird's vet to complete your birds health & medical record. We work closely with the lab & receive the test results, usually within one week or less (results may take longer depending on type of testing done). You will be notified by phone to come & pick up your written results, no result information will be given by phone.
**IMPORTANT**We do not do testing on possible or visably sick birds, you must take a bird that shows signs of illness to your avian vet immediately. DO NOT bring your bird to us if you even suspect a present illness.
