Here is a pic of "GOOSEY GOO" from Chicago, IL with his Mom & Dad, Patricia & Al......Patricia writes "he’s doing great. :) He was about 8 weeks when we got him from you, so he’s 10 months old now. He turned out beautifully and we’d like to thank you, once again, for giving us such a beautiful, healthy and lovable baby bird. We suspect Goosey is male – we haven’t tested him but a few days of hormonal behavior have pretty much spelled it out for us. :) .....He is now a cuddly bird, very curious about everything around him and talking up a storm. His vocabulary improves day-by-day. He can say his name, Goosey-Goo, as well as the names of the two cockatiels we have (Kiki and Zazu). We boarded him for about 3 weeks when we were on vacation and we know the vet staff spoiled him quite a bit because he came home reciting “Good Goosey!,” “pretty Goosey” and “pretty boy.” He greets us with “Hey, baby!” and says “Goodnight, Goosey-Goo!” before going to sleep in his sleepy-teepy tent in his cage. (He also warns us "Goosey poop!" every once in a while... and congratulates himself with a "good boy!" at the end. :) He is a great eater and we really want to thank you for taking such good care of his diet. "

We operate our aviary on a "closed aviary system" (for the disease protection of our birds) this is one of the reasons why we are one of the best in the Midwest! We are a family owned & operated aviary located just minutes from the Mississippi River, near ST LOUIS, MO. We do not offer a retail showroom or visiting facility at our aviary, all of our birds are purchased online or via mail order & Delivered or You can pick up at an offsite location & we ship ANYWHERE in the USA!

We starting raising parrots as a hobby & the rest is history! Our babies are all hand-fed parrots that receive lots of TLC, play-time & one on one interaction with us. We offer delivery of our baby birds to any of 5 Designated Location Delivery sites in the St Louis, area, at which time you will have the option of choosing the "bird of your choice" from the selection of babies that we have currently available. It may appear that we are a huge quantity avian breeder with a "warehouse full of birds", but in all honesty we are a very intimate family operation honored by the opportunity of raising, nurturing & interacting with one of God's most wonderful creations! We truely & wholeheartedly enjoy our job working with these marvelous birds! And are truely blessed & thankful for the joy & happiness they bring into our life & the lives of our customers, both YOUNG & OLD! After all feathered friends are Forever & they go on and on in the hearts & minds of those that have loved them along life's journey. We start by having the healthiest Breeders around to produce strong, healthy & beautiful offspring. We only select a few babies from each species to pull at 2 wks of age to hand-feed. This ensures that they will be use to humans and will be hand-friendly & tame. All of our babies at OASIS AVIARY are treated just like "family", why??? Because that's what they truely are! They are raised here with us & are interacted with our family,friends & other pets daily. They are fed the very best in fledgling dietary requirements. Our adult breeders are fed a diet that includes a wide variety of fresh fruits & vegetables, cooked legumes, sprouted seeds, and vitamin/mineral packed nutritional pellets. And yes, we cook for our birds!!! They enjoy fresh cooked yams, cereals, beets, carrots, potatoes, squash, pumpkin, etc.

All of our baby Parrots are raised by their parents for approx. the first 3 weeks of life and then pulled for hand-feeding, to insure that your baby will be very tame, sweet & cuddly. This however is the usual unless unforeseen circumstances makes parent rearing the first 3 weeks impossible, for instance if parents refuse to incubate or feed. In that instance we will intervene to assure their health & welfare. Each baby will remain at our aviary until they no longer require hand-feeding. Weaning times vary due to species and each individual bird. We do not "force wean" & WE DO NOT SELL UN-WEANED BABIES! So, please don't ask.

Regarding Finches, Canaries, etc. We let the parents raise them & they are not hand-tame. And we do offer breeder birds available from time to time that would be available for purchase for your home breeding program. Ask about our prices on quantities of finches, green cheek conures, cockatiels, lovebirds, parakeets, etc.

ROUDYBUSH PELLETS- We also use ZUPREEM Avian Maintenance Fruit Blend, along with a wide variety of fresh fruits, veggies, cooked pasta, sprouted seeds & legumes. We believe that there is no "best" diet, food, pellet" on the market today, so we incorporate a variety of them, along with a natural diet to insure that they have the best start in life that they possibly can! After they leave "our nest", and come to yours.....It's up to you to do these things for the health & welfare of your parrot or bird.

at OASIS AVIARY we carefully select a small group of babies to HAND-FEED They are pulled from the nest at approx. 2-3 wks of age & placed in a warm brooder & hand-fed every 3-4 hours around the clock until they are old enough to eat foods on their own (weaned). Usually this is between 6-12 wks of age for most species. The time that we invest in each of our babies here at the nursery is an intense labor of LOVE! WITH MANY WEEKS OF EVERY 3-4 HOUR HAND-FEEDINGS, LOTS OF LOVE & TLC, PLAYTIME & SOCIALIZATION TIME- BOTH WITH US HUMANS & ALSO OTHER BIRDS & ANIMALS THAT WE HAVE GOES INTO EACH BIRD THAT WE HAVE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. SO, needless to say.............WE ARE CAREFUL IN CHOOSING THE RIGHT HUMAN-PARENTS THAT WILL CARE FOR OUR BABIES ONCE THEY LEAVE OUR NURSERY.

We do not force wean our babies for ANY reason. Even though you would like your baby as soon as possible, we can only give you "estimated times of weaning". We allow each individual baby to wean on it's own. We abundance wean all of our babies. No baby leaves our nursery without us having the satisfaction that it is completely weaned! After all, we are certain that you DO NOT want a crying, screaming baby when you bring it home! And that's exactly what they do when they are not weaned & hungry and expect their caregiver, (whether avian or human) to hand feed them. All weaning dates are approximate. We will notify you if it needs to be changed. We know that you are anxious about your new baby coming home & all of the preparations that you will need to do before that day, so in order to help you ease through this process you will find information on ourOASIS FAQ section, that goes into detail about what to expect, and answers to many of our zillions of emails :) Hope this helps!

If your would prefer to pick up your bird/s you may do so by chosing "Designated Delivery Location" option, there is a $25 fee for this service. We will deliver to one of 5 convenient locations, you chose the location & the day of the week for delivery (we set up a mutually agreed upon time, via email). We also offer pickup of your bird/s at an offsite location in Millstadt, free of charge. (Please let us know if you will be wanting this option). We offer these offsite locations since we operate on a closed aviary basis. For the disease protection of our birds. If you intend on picking up your bird/s you must acknowledge this by choosing the DESIGNATED LOCATION DELIVERY option -CLICK HERE to select this option.**these locations are specific locations that our customers have chosen & that are conveniently located near major highways/interstates where we meet our customers & deliver thier bird directly to them. There is no facility, no showroom or an area to "interact" with the birds. It is simply a meeting place for bird delivery since we do not allow visitors to our aviary for the disease protection of our birds.)

By choosing either of these methods of receiving your bird you are acknowledging & agreeing to the terms stated here. The total amount of the bird/s and other services if ordered (such as wing clipping, DNA sexing, etc) MUST BE PRE-PAID, either via credit/debit card online or by mail with a personal check or US Postal Money Order.(please allow sufficient time for check/mo orders- to clear 'our bank').

The methods we accept for payment via our website are pmts with credit/bank, debit cards, or echeck. If you are picking up your bird/s THEY MUST BE PRE-PAID by either of the above mentioned methods. All checks & money orders must clear our bank prior to bird pickup or delivery.

We will not be able to accept payments at the time of delivery in any form, no exceptions. ALL payments via personal check /money order must be processed at least 2 weeks before INTERSTATE SHIPPING (via USPS EXPRESS, DELTA, or CONTINENTAL AIRLINES) Sorry, but we will not ship your bird until payment has cleared OUR BANK. Please keep in mind that when we meet you for delivery at any of the 5 DESIGNATED DELIVERY LOCATIONS, it is a public place & it is not feasible to 'display the birds' or endanger them in any way by allowing handling. It is a brief exchange, and all questions regarding feeding, care, etc are to be addressed PRIOR to the DELIVERY. Your time, as well as ours is very valuable & we have an aviary to run, althought we would love to stay & 'chat' we would prefer you to do all of your 'questions & answers' via email prior to the delivery. Or if you forget & have questions when you get home, give us a call or email us and we would be very happy to help in whatever way we can!

As to our AVIARY, we do not have a show room to view available birds, or retail facility at our location. We are not open to the general public. No one is permitted to tour our aviary or view our available birds simply due to the fact of disease control and the protection of our breeding flock, & their babies. Strangers simply upset our breeders who are in the process of mating, incubating, or raising & feeding their young. Distractions, loud noises & strangers in the immediate area startles the breeders and they may in turn harm their young, not intentionally but most have trampled their babies to death, or simply abandoned the nest box leaving hungry & cold babies for us to feed & raise. (if they are noticed soon enough- most often than not it is usually too late before we have noticed that the parents are being dispondant. Most aviaries operate on a closed aviary system, this is due to the simple fact that anyone may have the potential of carrying life threatening viruses on their clothes, shoes or person. This is the reason why we do not attend bird shows & we do not visit pet shops or retail stores that sell live birds. We expect that you accept our strict policy on this matter. Thank you.

If a bird should die within 72 hrs upon receipt of bird, it must be immediately submitted to a Certified Avian Veterinarian for a necropsy and histology within 6 hours of death. It must be kept refrigerated and not frozen. The "original" (no photocopies will be accepted) necropsy & histology report must be sent to & received by OASIS AVIARY within 5 days or 72 hr guarantee is void. Oasis Aviary is not responsible for air-freight charges or veterinary charges after birds leave our aviary.
